ABS and ASA are technical material families with significant warping and fume considerations. No workflow can promise a warp-free result: geometry, formulation, printer, sheet, and room conditions all matter.
Choose by visitor need
Use ABS for a documented path to mechanically stressed or moderately heat-resistant parts when outdoor UV exposure is not the priority. Use ASA when the product's outdoor and UV resistance is the relevant requirement. Confirm the exact spool data before treating either family description as a design guarantee.
Control the printing conditions
- Start with the printer and filament maker's supported profile.
- Use a stable warm enclosure when the printer and material guidance call for it, especially for larger parts.
- Keep drafts away from the print while providing ventilation appropriate to the workspace.
- Check the exact sheet/material pairing and any required separation layer in the plate maker's table.
- Validate with a small representative part before committing a large print.
The saved Prusa workflows are available through the Prusa MK4 profile. Use the build-plate guide for the first layer and surface sequence, and the settings directory for parameter definitions.
Claims removed from the retained draft
The recovery removes universal shrinkage percentages, mandatory chamber-temperature ranges, "every time" language, and unsupported promises to eliminate warping. The cited values and sheet advice remain scoped to the named manufacturer workflows.
