PETG formulations, printers, and build surfaces differ. Start with the exact spool and printer profile; the numbers below are one documented Prusa workflow, not a universal PETG prescription.
Documented Prusa starting point
Prusa lists 230 °C for the first layer and 240 °C for later layers, with an 85 °C first-layer bed and 90 °C thereafter. Those values apply to Prusa's PETG guidance. Do not transfer them blindly to another product or hotend.
Build-surface compatibility
Prusa warns that PETG can bond too strongly to smooth PEI. For its sheets, it recommends a powder-coated or satin surface, or a thin PVA separation layer on smooth PEI. Follow the instructions for your own plate.
Practical sequence
- Select the printer maker's PETG profile and the spool maker's range.
- Confirm that the plate is compatible with PETG.
- Print a small first-layer check and temperature calibration.
- Record the product, nozzle, plate, temperatures, cooling, and result.
